TIPSY Today™ Blog with Rogena & Colleen | A Footprint of RMJ Editing & Manuscript Service, Colleen Snibson Editing, and Two Red Pens Editing
It's been a while since I posted a Tipsy Today™ with Rogena on my actual blog. I think I need to get with it. This one is short, but it's a pretty good one.
Do YOU know what mnemonic means?
noun: mnemonic; plural noun: mnemonics
It's something you use to help you remember things...like remembering grammar rules.
Here is one from author Glynda Francis as shared in the Bridge to Story Community group on Facebook. Glynda said she was rummaging through old English grammar & punctuation notes from her college days and found this little gem.
This mnemonic will help you remember when to use affect vs effect.
Vane = V.A.N.E.
V.A. — N.E.
VERB = Affect — NOUN = Effect
Great, right? Now go apply it. Do you have any mnemonics that you use? Share them in a comment.
