TIPSY TODAY with Rogena
Short, but sweet as we get a little tipsy today.
Are you using DOC or DOCX?
I have found, if I format a book for print and return it to the client, either as a Word DOC or DOCX, and they are using an older version of Word, the page count sometimes changes. While this isn't really an issue when formatting for eBook, it can be a huge problem when you are formatting for paperback.
If you are self-publishing, I highly recommend you use Office 2010 or later.
Anyone have any other thoughts on using DOC vs DOCX and the issues older versions of Word can cause?
The website, thebookdesigner.com, gives us the difference between the two... and they say 'X' Hits the Spot!
"It's smaller, it's more reliable, it's HI-FI, it's future proof, and most of all, it's more secure."
I have considered only accepting DOCX files due to the security of the files. I have had some issues with corrupt files and they have all been files transferred around to others as DOC files.
(More on DOC vs DOCX can be read here: http://www.thebookdesigner.com/2013/04/docx-vs-doc/)
