TIPSY TODAY with Rogena
"I'll just hire an editor!"
Have you heard this before from fellow authors?
Have you said it, too?
I have heard it many times.
I love to read blogs about grammar, writing, editing, marketing... you get the picture. Tonight I found myself on the website, Writing Forward.
The blog called 10 Reasons Writers Should Learn Good Grammar by Editor, Melissa Donovan caught my attention. The list is worth the time to read.
I want to share two of the ten points with you here.
Working with an Editor
Those are two crucial reasons to learn grammar.
You've heard the saying 'I can't see the forest for the trees', right?
You need to take pride in your writing by learning grammar. Then, spend time self-editing your manuscript prior to sending it to your editor. Otherwise, there is a good possibility your editor won't be able to get to the 'nitty gritty'—or, in other words, they won't be able to see the forest for the trees.
Things will be missed. Errors will be overlooked.
And the more editing required, the more it will cost, in the long run.
Spread the word!
